College Basketball Consensus Picks – Duke Vs. North Carolina Predictions
Duke Blue Devils Vs. North Carolina Tar Heels Predictions
It doesn’t look like we are going to get to see Zion Williamson anytime soon.
The North Carolina Tar Heels are set to sweep the Duke Blue Devils in the ACC regular season finale on Saturday. Williamson hasn’t been declared officially out, but it’s a stretch to expect him to play for the first time since the shoe explosion a few weeks ago. Since the shoe incident, things have turned for both programs.
North Carolina is riding a six-game winning streak and looks like the best team in the ACC. Duke instead has dropped two of the last five outings, including the hurtful defeat to the Tar Heels at home.
“I don’t think he’ll be ready for Saturday,” coach Mike Krzyzewski said about Zion.
“I have to be careful not to push this. I’d be surprised if he’s not ready by the ACC tournament.”
It doesn’t look like Zion will be ready anytime soon; maybe for March Madness? I still have my doubts. Duke needs him because despite they have freshman forward RJ Barrett, who is a stud, the team lacks explosiveness without Williamson.
When Zion went down in the first game after only 30 seconds, Duke had no shot. The team lost its mind over the fact their star player got injured in such a weird way. This time at least they had a few weeks to adjust about life without him.
The issue with trusting Duke at this point in the season it is they have been an over-hyped bet all season. Since February 12, they have gone 2-5 against the spread. Every single time they were favorites and most of the time failed to deliver.
North Carolina is an excellent team and well-coach as most of Roy Williams’ squads. During their current six-game winning streak they have covered the spread four times. On Tuesday, they took down Boston College on the road as an 11.5-point favorite, winning by 13.
The Tar Heels are rolling, and hot teams are always fun to bet on. There is too much drama around Duke and Zion Williamson for my taste. When he’s back, whenever that is, they will be back to being the top candidate. Without him, the Blue Devils are very beatable. What’s the play? North Carolina.
